NYC’s Premiere Analog Photobooth Gallery + Museum
An analog museum, gallery, and photo studio for lovers of light, chemistry, and black and white nostalgia.
AUTOPHOTO is a one-of-a-kind space dedicated to the art, history, and ongoing life of vintage photobooths.
It’s part archive, part gallery, part portrait-making palace—featuring a rotating collection of restored machines and exhibitions from artists who work within four frames.
We also proudly host the Sure Thing Chapel, where couples can book a quick, Vegas-style ceremony and step into a vintage booth to capture their first kiss—printed the old-fashioned way.
In collaboration with photobooth technicians and enthusiasts around the world, we created this space to celebrate the history, beauty, and magic of photobooths. For the curious, the sentimental, and the analog-obsessed—you’re in the right place.

Anatol’s Camera + Rare Photos
Take a look at never-before-seen photos of Anatol Josepho, the inventor of the photobooth, along with an original camera from c. 1925. This display offers a rare glimpse into the man behind the invention and the early days of photobooth history. Photos and camera generously on loan from Anatol’s Granddaughter, Sharon Josepho.
OCT — DEC
Celebrity Prints
On loan from a private collection, this unique display features one-of-a-kind celebrity photostrips. You’ll find moments with stars like Michael Jackson, Brittney Spears, Serena Williams, Liv Tyler, and Jackie Chan — candid snapshots that capture a different side of fame through the photobooth’s lens.
OCT — DEC
The Photobooth Technicians Project
An elaborate book that explores photobooth history through the stories of the people who keep these machines running. Over five years, 49 technicians answered 11 questions about their work and the culture around photobooths.
The project comes as 13 accordion-fold chapters that mimic the photobooth’s continuous paper strips (and the occasional paper jam techs have to fix). Each chapter is tucked inside archival-style envelopes, all housed in a custom debossed box. Now part of our permanent collection.
OCT — DEC
Stop Motion Film
Take a look at The Photobooth Technician by Rachel Rowe, a puppetry artist and photobooth technician, who created a charming stop-motion film celebrating the art of photobooth. Alongside the film, check out the miniatures she crafted — little pieces that bring the photobooth story to life in a fresh, creative way.

THE SURE THING CHAPEL
Opening early next year — The Sure Thing Chapel, under the same roof as Autophoto, brings the spirit of a Las Vegas wedding to New York. Elopements & micro-weddings are welcome. Celebrate, say “I do,” and capture it forever in our analog photobooths.
Weddings require a reservation with Sure Thing Chapel. Opening Spring 2026. Follow @surethingchapel for updates.
IN COLLABORATION
In a small but passionate community dedicated to preserving photobooths, collaboration is essential to keeping the art alive. Our gallery features machines restored by skilled technicians and enthusiasts from around the world, along with rare artifacts from private collections and never-before-seen blueprints. None of it would be possible without the support of this community.
